Chunky knits for snowy weather
With the forecast of temperatures below -11 heading for the UK this week, we thought we'd share some of our favourite chunky knits that are made for snow days.
Wrap up warm in extra thick, chunky fibres like our merino wool and British lambswool. Or for an extra cosy feel, layer our luxuriously soft extra-fine merino knits under thicker knits.
Made from 100% natural fibres, our knitwear is naturally breathable, with temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking properties. Perfect for snuggling up at home, or braving the outdoors for wintery adventures.
If you're looking for ways to layer your knitwear, our extra fine merino wool is the perfect thermo-regulating smart fibre. Used for many years now for ski and snowboarding base layer, extra fine merino wool is ultra lightweight, but the tight knit offers an array of benefits. The ultra-fine fibres will trap air, keeping you insulated and in warmer climates, perspiration can be easily evaporated, keeping you cool and dry. Merino wool also has incredible wicking qualities which mean that moisture is removed from the skin. Thanks to the core structure of the fibre, surprisingly, you’re less likely to perspire and smells are neutralised at the source.
Our beautifully soft chunky merino wool is also perfect as temperatures continue to fall. Light and fluffy, yet incredibly warm, our chunky merino knits use woollen spun yarns, the process of which involves trapping air between the fibres to create a voluminous chunky yarn. It's a technique that has been used for thousands of years to produce highly effective, insulating winter knitwear, suited to even the most extreme colds. We work with a 150 year old Peruvian co-operative who farm and spin the chunky merino yarn using this technique to create our timeless heavyweight merino men's knits and chunky merino women's knits.
